Put on your traveling shoes for an adventure around the world! Your guide on this tour will be storybook Cinderellas from different cultures, along with guest presenters from those cultures.

During this program, we will read our book aloud and look at questions like: What is the setting, what do the characters eat, wear, and what are their traditional ways of life? Who are the heroes and villains in these tales, and what are the problems? Most importantly how do these tales show that good wins over evil? Our guest presenters will also share fascinating insights from their own cultures, and we will wrap up with a hands-on activity to further explore the culture.

For our May program, our book will be Anklet for a Princess by Lila Mehta. Our discussion of Indian culture will be facilitated by our guest, Aruna Rajan. We will also learn about Diwali, the Festival of Light, and make our own lamps.

Registration is required by May 23. Between May 24-26, please stop by the library to pick up your take-home box with the supplies for this program, including a copy of the book* and the materials to complete your hands-on activity.

** PLEASE NOTE: We will do our best to provide students with a copy of the book, but we have a limited number of copies this month. We will read the book aloud during the program, however, so students can still enjoy the story, even if they do not have a copy of the book.**

Recommended for Grades 1-7.

This program is presented in partnership by the Black Heritage Library and Multicultural Center and the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library.
