Be Red Cross Ready by attending this informative program. Natural and human caused disaster can strike at anytime and anywhere. It is vital to prepare before disaster strikes. The American Red Cross Hancock County Chapter will train participants how to be "Red Cross Ready" Each family will receive a bag that contains information and a first aid kit.
Nina Parker from the Black Heritage Library and Multicultural Center will present a program on the Civil Rights Movement. This informative and interesting program compliments the 2014 CommunityREAD title, The Help, by Kathryn Stockett.

Nothing says southern like a fresh slice of peach pie. Dig out your favorite southern pie recipe in the Southern Pie contest. Bring in a pie or come as a judge. All attendees are invited to judge. Three prizes of a copy of The Help by Kathryn Stockett and two tickets to the CommunityREAD feature event on March 28 will be awarded. NOTE: Please call or stop by the reference desk to submit the type of pie you will be entering in the contest. Staff will be able to let you know which types of pies have already been submitted.
