Senior Advocate Fraud Education

Senior Advocate Fraud Education educates caregivers, social workers, seniors, and their families about frauds and scams targeting older adults. In an effort to build a working knowledge this program educates why older adults are targeted; which scams target older adults; avoiding insurance fraud; practicing safe investing; managing utility bills and preventing scams; fighting back against identity theft; avoiding credit and debit card fraud; and maintaining safe and fraud free environments. 1.5 CPE credit hours are available to social workers.

Nationally recognized appraiser Anne Stratton will discuss and appraise items brought in by audience members. Limit of 2 items per person. No weapons, rugs, stamps or coins. This is a free program, but registration is required. Space limited.

Public Genealogy Lock-In

Library staff and volunteers will assist participants with genealogical research. Many resources will be available for research, including books, microfilm records, and genealogical computer databases. Children are welcome to attend if accompanied by a parent or guardian. Registration is required by calling 419-422-1712 or by visiting the library’s reference desk. Participants should arrive before 5 p.m. and park in the parking lot (the underground parking garage closes at 5 p.m.) Participants may also bring an optional brown bag supper.
